2024 Grandparents Day

It was another outstanding Grandparents Day as we welcomed several hundred to 1180 Delaware Ave. on Sunday for this special annual event.

The morning began with Mass in Scaccia Auditorium followed by brunch in the Bernard J. Kennedy ’49 Field House as current students welcomed their grandparents to our campus.

Mass was celebrated by Assistant to the Principal Fr. Edward Durkin, S.J., and concelebrants President Fr. David Ciancimino, S.J., Director of Campus Ministry Fr. Chuck Frederico, S.J., and Assistant to the President Fr. Richard Zanoni, S.J.

Principal Thomas Coppola ’01 welcomed all to the Mass, Fr. Ciancimino delivered a special message, as did student speaker Augustus Falvo ’25.

Several students participated in the Mass, including: Christian Lumba ’27 (First Reading), Issac Lowinger ’27 (Responsorial Psalm), Michael Perez ’25 (Second Reading), Brendan Peccia ’25 and Matthew Pierce ’25 (Prayer of the Faithful), Nicholas Elia ’27 (crossbearer) and Luca Comaratta ’27 and Matthew Carver ’26 (candlebearers). The string ensemble, guitar ensemble and chorus also performed.

Students and families interested in the unforgettable moments that accompany the excellence only found in a Jesuit education at Canisius can learn more by arranging for an on-campus experience via canisiushigh.org/visit. This place is special. Let us show you why.
