It is a true privilege, and I am beyond honored to be nominated alongside Nick, Matt, David, Baron and Elliott. I believe all of us truly represent what it means to be Canisius young men, and I am grateful to have grown with them over our four years here.
Being forced to come to Canisius by my parents, I was very hesitant to meet new people and connect with others. But I quickly learned that Canisius is a place like no other. It has taught me not only to know, but to love and respect my Canisius brothers.
Whether on the basketball court, the soccer field, or during a robotics competition, Canisius has taught me teamwork and leadership qualities that I will carry into my future and throughout my life. The retreats of Kairos and Emmaus, along with my immersion trip to Portland, Maine, have allowed me to grow in my connection with God and to develop empathy and a strong work ethic.
What makes Canisius so crucial to the young man I am becoming, however, is the people I see every day. Teachers, students, coaches and faculty have all played an important role in why I look forward to coming here every day, and why this place will always be meaningful to me.
I always thought the line, “This place is special, let us show you why,” was cliché and simply used to attract more students. But after four tremendous years here at Canisius, I can honestly say that it truly reflects how impactful this place is.
Thank you Canisius. Go Crusaders.
