Dylan McCarthy
Canisius was not an option for me until COVID hit. When hybrid and online learning were in full effect, I became disconnected from school, something I’d always loved. It was at this point that my Dad mentioned Canisius.
My Dad and his entire family had attended CHS, and at that time Canisius was the only school going in every day. I toured and shadowed and instantly fell in love with it – it quickly became the only option for me.
Looking back on it, my Dad’s suggestion to attend Canisius has been the greatest thing that has happened to me.
This place has been instrumental to forming the man I am today because of my teachers, friends and other mentors. Throughout these past four years I’ve learned to lead others, to challenge myself, and most importantly, I’ve learned what it means to be a Man for Others.
Coming into Canisius I didn’t know many people, but through playing sports, joining clubs and getting involved I am leaving here with brothers for life. Canisius hasn’t just been a school, it's been a family that has helped me grow in ways I couldn’t have imagined.
I’m incredibly honored to be nominated alongside Patrick, Jack Ganci, Hector, Jack Lincoln and Daniel – people I respect and admire deeply. I’m extremely proud to be a Crusader and I will carry this place with me forever.
Thank you,
Dylan McCarthy
