Daniel Sugg

I would first like to express my gratitude for the honor of being nominated for the Mr. Canisius award alongside Dylan, Hector, Jack Ganci, Jack Lincoln and Patrick. It’s been an absolute privilege to walk with each and every one of you. I am confident that the honor of Mr. Canisius will be well represented by any of the candidates.

Even though it is exciting to think forward to what lies next in my story, how could I not reflect on what Canisius has taught me? Canisius has been the best four years of my life, transforming me from a boy into a man. I have formed lifelong relationships with my classmates who I now call brothers.

The hallmark phrase “Men For and With Others” always made me think of alumni connections later in life. But this phrase doesn’t just represent the lifelong brotherhood that my graduating class is, it represents the mission that Canisius molds its young men into.

Men For and With Others revolves around hope, positivity and community. I go into each and every day knowing that I am blessed to be able to live another day. My gratefulness fuels my ability to spread love and positivity to the people around me. It is so easy to make someone’s day better with a smile or a quick conversation. Be a beacon in a world full of darkness, be a leader in a world full of followers, be positive in a world full of negative.

Lastly, continue to have hope in life because there is always light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you to the Canisius family and brotherhood for forming me into the man I am today.

Go Crusaders,

Daniel Sugg
