Keith McShea

Brian Cosgrove ’94 is the new Chief of Police of the West Seneca Police Department.

“Throughout his career, Brian has demonstrated exceptional leadership and dedication to the community,” the Town of West Seneca stated in its announcement, which followed Cosgrove’s appointment at a special Town Board meeting Monday night.

“His commitment to excellence and continuous improvement makes him a natural fit for the role of Chief of Police.”

Cosgrove, who has been patrol captain for four years and a lieutenant for seven years during a 21-year career with the department, starts his new post Saturday.

Cosgrove has been a crisis negotiator, West Seneca Central School District DARE officer and field training officer; he currently serves as the unit commander of the department honor guard. He attended the FBI law enforcement executive training seminar in 2021.

He is the father of Jack Cosgrove '23 and Noah Cosgrove '26.
