Ryan Berenji '25 one of just 250 in country to be named a Coca-Cola Scholars Regional Finalist
Keith McShea

More than 105,000 students applied to be Coca-Cola Scholars.

Only 250 were selected as regional finalists.

Only one of those came from all of Upstate New York: Ryan Berenji ’25.

Coca-Cola Scholars are selected due to their outstanding community and school leadership, academics, involvement and service.

Berenji, a National Merit Scholarship finalist and CHS Ignatian Global Scholar, is founder of the Fishing Club and has been in the Guitar Ensemble, Jazz Band and Medical Professional Club among many other school and community activities.

The 250 Regional Finalists of the 105,000 students who applied represent just the top 0.3% of applicants.

Berenji was the only regional finalist among 11 from New York State who was from outside the New York City metropolitan area.

Teacher Craig Hinchcliffe reflects on CHS trip to Italy and a historic Easter Sunday

“It was a pretty moving experience. … It was pretty surreal.”

Craig Hinchcliffe and several students spoke Wednesday about the CHS educational trip to Italy over Easter Break, which culminated in the group being part of a historical moment: Pope Francis’ final public appearance as he said “Buona Pasqua” – Happy Easter – and blessed those gathered in St. Peter’s Square on Easter Sunday.

Requiescat in Pace, Pope Francis

“He was a Jesuit who knew and loved Jesus deeply,” said CHS President Fr. David Ciancimino, S.J. “Francis was a faithful servant of the Gospel who remained close to the people whom Jesus would be close to in our own time. He consistently called us all to greater mercy and compassion.”
