National Champion Rowers 2021

Canisius High School rowing has successfully defended its national championship with a repeat victory in the Boys Lightweight 4 with Coxswain. 

At the Scholastic Rowing Association of America (SRAA) National Championship Regatta on the Schuylkill River racecourse in Philadelphia May 28-29 the Crusaders rowed their way to victory in commanding fashion over a field of the top high school crews in the nation.

Canisius’ champion Varsity Lwt 4+ is composed of Matthew Talty ‘21 (stroke), Nathanial Siwiec ‘21 (3 seat), Tyler Siwiec ‘22 (2 Seat), Zachary Siwiec ‘22 (bow), and Phillip Zafuto ‘23 (Coxswain).

Placing fourth in the nation was the Varsity 8+, composed of freshmen and sophomores, of Adam Wittmann ‘23 (Stroke), Evan Izatt ‘23, Max Burget ‘24, Sam Ferguson ‘24, James Dodman ‘24, Brendan Johnson ‘23, Rowan McNeil ‘24, Will Oh ‘23 (Bow), and Teddy Hibbard ‘24 (Cox).  

The Crusaders return to Buffalo to race at the Fontana All-High Regatta at the West Side Rowing Club on Monday, May 31.

Finalists announced for 2024 Mr. Canisius award

This year's six finalists have been announced for the Mr. Canisius Award, which is presented annually to the graduating senior who, in the estimation of his peers, epitomizes all that Canisius stands for.

CHS Drama Guild's "The Addams Family" musical March 14-16!

Our CHS Drama Guild will present its annual musical on March 14-16 with a wonderfully fun production of The Addams Family. The Thursday, Friday and Saturday shows all start at 7:30 p.m. in historic Scaccia Auditorium.
