Crusaders Roundup 5/3/21
By Steven Czarnecki '21

Football

After an excellent regular season, the Crusaders look to finish strong against St. Francis in the Monsignor Martin championship at home at 3:00pm Saturday.

Baseball

Canisius fell to McQuaid twice in a double-header in their season opener. Game one was tied at one in the third inning, but a series of rallies propelled the Knights to a 10-2 victory. Blaise Kolbert ‘22 had a solo home run in the contest. In the second game, McQuaid finished with a 6-2 advantage. The bases were loaded in the seventh inning in the midst of a rally, but the opposing shortstop made a leaping catch on a Victor Mazzara ‘22 line drive, converting a double play. Over the two contests, Tommy Lynch ‘22 was the offensive star, tallying four hits.

After a slow start, Canisius looks to bounce back this week versus St. Francis (twice), McQuaid, and Nichols.

Lacrosse

The Crusaders were defeated 11-7 by St. Francis to start their season. The team aims to improve their record against St. Joe’s and Timon this week.

Tennis

Canisius beat Gow 4-1 to open their season. They look to build upon their performance this week as they challenge St. Francis, Gow, Cathedral Prep, and St. Joe’s.

Track

The Crusaders have their season-opening meet against Timon/Park this Wednesday.

Go Crusaders!
