Crusaders Roundup 2/22/21

Basketball

To start the week, the Crusaders defeated Nichols 70-31 Declan Ryan ‘22 led the scoring with 17 points while Shane Cercone ‘23 added 13.

In their next matchup, the team beat O’Hara 87-50 after scoring 53 points in the second half. Ryan, Max Dowling ‘21, and Eric Geisler ‘21 led the team with 21, 18, and 11 points, respectively.

In the final game of the week, the Crusaders fell to St. Joe’s 87-72. The Marauders took the lead in the first quarter and never looked back, courtesy of an elite shooting performance. Dowling had the high point total of 22 for Canisius while Cercone and Ryan tallied 20 and 14, respectively.

The squad ends the week with a 5-1 record. Looking to bounce back from their first loss of the season, the Crusaders take on St. Mary’s, St. Francis, and Timon this week.

Fed Hockey

Canisius defeated St. Francis 3-1 in their lone game of the week. After allowing a goal in the second, they scored three straight and earned the victory. Matt Usinski ‘21, Vinnie Mauro ‘21, and Jake LaDuca ‘21 each contributed a goal while John Susz ‘21 had a stellar performance in net.

The team is now 4-1 as they face off against St. Joe’s and St. Francis this week.

Club Hockey

The Crusaders fell to Orchard Park and Hamburg 8-0 and 4-0, respectively, to start their season.
The squad looks to bounce back against St. Joe’s this week.
