Soccer
The Crusaders opened their week with a 2-0 shutout over St. Francis. Victor Mazzara ‘22 scored on a header from a Ryan Adams ‘21 pass while Owen Jerge ‘21 scored off of a Wisken Whited ‘21 pass. Cody Franklin ‘22 recorded the shutout in net. In their following matchups, the squad fell to St. Joe’s in a tough 1-0 loss but quickly bounced back to defeat Timon 3-0. Josh Harbison ‘21, Daniel Peyser ‘23, and Ermyes Aman ‘22 each contributed a goal in the match while Henry Bailey ‘21 recorded the shutout in net.
After a solid week, Canisius is 3-1. They look to improve their record this week against St. Mary’s and McQuaid.
Golf
Canisius started a busy week with a second place finish at All-Catholics, just falling short to St. Mary’s. Finn Bluemle ‘21 and Quinn Griffin ‘21 each shot a 79 in the round and earned All-Catholic distinction. Bouncing back from the tournament, the team defeated St. Mary’s 191-196. Alex Bakshi ‘21 and Steven Bleck ‘22 each shot a 37 in the round.
Next, Canisius defeated Nichols 204-214 with Bluemle leading the way with a 37. Then in challenging weather, the squad defeated St. Francis 197-224 to clinch the regular season Monsignor Martin title. Finally, the Crusaders ended their week with a 200-211 win over St. Joe’s. Ryan Coyne ‘21 had the low round with a 37.
Canisius looks to end their season on a high note and get their tenth win over St. Joe’s in the season finale.
Cross Country
The Crusaders defeated St. Mary’s and Nichols 17-46 and 22-39, respectively, to improve their record to 4-0. They look to carry their dominance into the upcoming week against St. Francis and Gow this week.
