Two members of the same Western New York scouting troop became Eagle Scouts in the past year-and-a-half – both at the age of 15, and both are Canisius High School students.
They also happen to be brothers.
Corbin Bryant ’26 (left in above photo) earned the rank of Eagle Scout in January, which his brother, Carter Bryant ’25, achieved in October 2022.
Eagle Scout is the highest and most prestigious achievement a Scout can attain; it is a title of special significance not only in Scouting, but in education, business and the community. To attain the Eagle rank, a Scout must earn at least 21 merit badges, fulfill leadership roles and display outdoor skills and complete a comprehensive service project.
Corbin and Carter are both members of Troop 457 in Williamsville, and for their service projects they both continued a family tradition of service to the Central Amherst Little League.
Their late grandfather worked on a proposal to have a permanent restroom and facility for the Central Amherst Little League, which has since been built, and the Bryant siblings are umpires for the league.
For Carter’s project, he built dugout roofs for four separate baseball fields. He was responsible for planning and monitoring the project, including ordering all the materials, tools and supplies. He created four separate carpenter teams responsible for the home and away dugouts on each field.
The following spring, Corbin’s project was to repaint the entire facility. He organized volunteers as every bench, set of bleachers, picnic table and frame was scraped or sanded and repainted, while he also repaired or replaced any loose or broken boards.
Students and families interested in Canisius’ tradition of service and the excellence only found in a Jesuit education at CHS can learn more by arranging an on-campus experience via canisiushigh.org/visit
