"Inclusion" was the theme of the program at the EdCo Inclusivity Conference attended by five Canisius sophomores on February 4, 2019.
"Through our honest conversations around tough topics like racism, I was able to learn more about the importance of diversity in our world," said Jaylen Johnson '21. Jaylen took part in the conference along with Sebastian DeJames '21, Will Joyce '21, Matthew Bradley '21, Willie Herron '21 and nearly 100 students from other schools.
The conference titled "We the People" was hosted by Nichols School and included workshops and activities on topics such as disability rights, women and minorities in STEM fields, refugees in Buffalo, and even the philosophy of human nature.
"Attending the EdCo Inclusivity Conference gave us an opportunity to celebrate the dignity of difference," said Ms. Joni Schaller, the Canisius faculty moderator for the trip.
