Four members of the Canisius High School speech and debate team are heading to Washington, D.C. over Memorial Day weekend to compete in the National Catholic Forensic League (NCFL) Grand National Tournament. Team members selected for Nationals must have qualified for the New York State Forensics League tournament and must have a record of steady participation in regional competitions.
Thomas Keane '18 will compete in Lincoln-Douglas Debate which is a value debate on a topic chosen by the NCFL. Dylan Prendergast '19 will take part in Extemporaneous Speaking in which he'll give a seven-minute analytical/persuasive speech on a question of current events, given with only 30 minutes' prior notice. Naseem Haj-Dahmane '19 and Aidan Wood '19 will compete in Public Forum Debate, a two-man team event to advocate or reject a position.
