Congratulations to Evan Maynard '21 (pictured above) on being selected to represent Canisius High School at the 2019 Hugh O’Brian Youth (HOBY) Leadership Seminar. This three-day seminar will take place in June at the University of Rochester.

Evan is an honors student and a two-year member of the Canisius varsity swim team. Evan also swims for Niagara Falls Swim Club. Congratulations, Evan!

Congratulations also to the alternate representative, Steven Czarnecki '21 (pictured below). Steven is a two-year member of the Canisius baseball and volleyball teams. He also writes articles on varsity sports for the Canisius Press Corps.

In 1958, actor and philanthropist Hugh O’Brian had a vision of making a difference in the lives of young people and began HOBY. Last year, more than 10,000 of the brightest high school sophomores from across the United States participated in HOBY Leadership Seminars. Students interact with regionally and nationally renowned leaders from diverse fields such as business, government and education at the seminars. HOBY is an educational, life-changing experience that provides leadership skill development with a strong emphasis on community service.

Hugh O’Brian died in 2016 at the age of 91. He leaves a lifetime legacy of service that is unmatched.
