Ryan Hunter '13 signed a contract as an undrafted free agent with the Kansas City Chiefs over the weekend. The offensive lineman started for three years with Bowling Green.

At Canisius, Hunter was selected as the 2012 Buffalo News Player of the Year, an honor he shared that year with teammate and running back Qadree Ollison '14. The Crusaders were undefeated that season.

Hunter is now the fifth Canisius alumnus in the last five years to sign with an NFL team. The others are retired Ravens lineman John Urschel '09, Derek Brim '09, Jimmy Gaines '10 and Mercer Timmis '12.

Hunter is also likely be drafted in the Canadian Football League draft in a few weeks. That league can be a backup option for him if he does not make the Chiefs roster after training camp in August.
