2021 Family Service Day

"Men and Women for and with Others"

Alumni, students, parents, faculty, staff, families, friends and loved ones are encouraged to join the Canisius High School Alumni Association for a day of service in our community. 

All are welcome as we put into practice our Jesuit commitment to be “Men and Women for and with Others.”

Family Service Day counts towards current students' required Ignatian service hours.

  • Date: Saturday, November 20, 2021
  • Time: 8 a.m. to noon
  • Location: Meet at Canisius High School at 8 a.m. for a light breakfast and a brief prayer before moving to service locations at 8:45 a.m.
  • Dress: Please dress in warm layers that are ok to be damaged or dirty as you may be outside for a portion of the day, painting, lifting, moving or otherwise performing manual labor.
  • Location Assignments: Volunteer will be assigned to locations on the morning of the event. Families that register together will be placed at the same location together.

Peaceprints of WNY is a 501c3 nonprofit organization offering comprehensive reentry services to men and women involved in the criminal justice system. Their Reentry and Housing Programs, including Bissonette House, are designed to offer provisions and guidance along each step of an individual’s transformation.

Volunteers will be helping to paint the newly renovated basement.

Kevin Guest House

Kevin Guest House offers a warm, safe and secure respite providing comfort, support and affordable accommodations for patients and their loved ones seeking care at area medical facilities.

Volunteers will help with yard work and cleanup around the outside of the property.

St. Luke's Mission Of Mercy
325 Walden Ave.
Buffalo, NY

St. Luke's is an independent mission in the Roman Catholic tradition in the inner city of Buffalo. This community strives to live the Gospel message of God's great love and mercy for all His children through service to His poor and broken. This service is carried out through living the corporal and spiritual works of mercy.

Volunteers will help move toys for the toy drive to their new storage location.
