Fr. John G. Sturm, S.J. ’35 was a standout athlete in his days as a Canisius High School student. After his ordination, he served as Prefect of Discipline at the school for 19 years. His love of sports and care for others lives on through the Fr. John G. Sturm, S.J. '35 Legacy Fund.
The Fr. John G. Sturm, S.J. '35 Legacy Fund was created to build the endowment of the Fr. Sturm Scholarship, provide tuition assistance for NativityMiguel Middle School students who enroll at Canisius High School, and supports athletic programs at Canisius.

Fr. Sturm's care for others stretched beyond his role as Prefect of Discipline, but few people have heard these stories. For example, in addition to quietly caring with dignity and grace for Canisius students who were struggling or in difficult circumstances, he also mentored young couples as they prepared for marriage.
