Canisius has been educating the young men of Western New York in the Jesuit tradition since 1870. Jesuit education is life-changing and all about discovering and engaging the fullness of the human experience through scholarship, companionship, and service.
As a college preparatory school, Canisius has top-notch academics that prepare students for success at America’s best colleges and universities. But our mission also runs deep into the heart and soul. Our aim is for each student to realize his full potential as a unique individual, both inside and outside the classroom.
At Canisius, students participate in remarkable retreat and service programs. A wide variety of athletics, arts, and co-curricular opportunities round out their experience.
Our talented and dedicated faculty and staff are committed to helping support and care for our students, ensuring their success. The Canisius community will welcome you and transform your life.

Learning Support
An education at Canisius High School is centered around the idea of Cura Personalis, a Latin phrase meaning "care for the person." Canisius is committed not just to academic achievement, but also to mental and physical health, spiritual growth, and development of our students into citizens of the world. All of our faculty, staff, coaches and moderators are dedicated to caring for students as whole persons.
The Magis Academic Program, based in our Center for Excellence, offers academic support in core subjects, including cohort-based coaching to meet unique learning needs. Staffed by a Director and veteran teachers who take on the role of coaches, the MAP also coordinates learning opportunities beyond traditional classroom subjects, including life skills like time management, digital citizenship, and financial literacy.
