Instrumental Music Teacher

Job Outline

For a position to begin in the 2024-25 academic year, Canisius is seeking an experienced and talented educator who is inspired by the school’s mission and its students, and who is eager to further enhance its legacy of excellence in the formation of young men.

The ideal candidate should be a competent professional with in-depth knowledge of the subject matter, an openness to growth, a commitment to the art and craft of teaching, and an understanding of professional boundaries and appropriate conduct.

In addition to having excellent written and verbal communication skills, an attractive candidate will also meet the following criteria:

• Bachelor’s degree in music education, music performance or a closely related field; Master’s degree is preferred.
• Demonstrated proficiency as an instrumentalist and as a conductor. • High school teaching experience and/or New York State music education certification is preferred.
• Able to direct school instrumental ensembles and participate in extracurricular activities. • Strong organizational and classroom management abilities.
• Developed interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a team environment.
• Enthusiasm for the work of education in a Catholic, Jesuit context.
• Must be available to start in August 2024.
• Competitive salary commensurate with experience in a range of $35,000 to $60,000.

Modern Language Teacher

Physical Education Teacher

• High school teaching experience and/or New York State physical education and health certification is preferred.
• Previous coaching experience is preferred.
• Able to participate in the extracurricular life of the students and the school, including mentoring and coaching.
• Strong organizational and classroom management abilities.
• Developed interpersonal skills for effective collaboration in a team environment.
• Enthusiasm for the work of education in a Catholic, Jesuit context.
• Must be available to start in August 2024.
• Competitive salary commensurate with experience in a range of $35,000 to $60,000.
