HAP: A Student Perspective
HAP: A Student Perspective

Editor's note: HAP (Higher Achievement Program) is a five-week camp at Canisius High School for boys who've completed 7th grade. This year's camp began on June 26. The article below was written by 2017 HAP participant Jason Quebral.

In my opinion HAP is great program for students in 7th grade. The program's goal is to prepare you for the entrance exam for any school you want. In the beginning you may think it's like summer but it's not like summer school at all! There are fun activities and field trips to Skyzone, Lasertron, and bowling.

Though half of the day is sports, and I'm not the most "athletic" person, I still enjoy the six sports given which include soccer, football, hockey, handball, and basketball. My first day was very confusing. I found out my team is named Gonzaga after a college, like all other teams. I also got to meet up with my old friend from grade school, Zachary Terry, and I also met new friends within the first few hours. Michael Steffens' opinion of HAP: "It's a nice way to get a good feeling of the school." From what I hear so far, people think HAP is a great program! Have a great day!
