Several members of the Monsignor Martin league champion Canisius High School football team were honored at the 31st annual Western New York High School Football Awards Banquet.

Quarterback Jayce Johnson '18 received the Ray Karney Award for the Monsignor Martin Offensive Most Valuable Player. Jayce is also one of four WGRZ-TV Offensive Players of the Year, along with his teammate Wide Receiver Paul Woods '18. Paul was also honored with a James Lofton Award as an outstanding receiver. Linebacker Joe Jamison '19 won the Dick Wojciechowski Award given to the Monsignor Martin Defensive MVP. Joe was also named one of four WGRZ-TV Defensive Players of the Year, along with Linebacker Ray Miranda '18.

Canisius Coach Rich Robbins won the Joe Foyle Award as a large school coach of the year. Robbins coached the team to league championships in back-to-back seasons.

Paul Woods and Offensive Lineman Will McGennis '18 were recognized as members of the 2017 Buffalo News All-WNY team.

R.J. Brandon '18 and Dan Harig '18 were honored for making the 2017 All-WNY Academic Football Team. R.J. also received recognition as an Unsung Player.

The awards banquet was held Saturday, December 16th at the Classics Banquet and Conference Center in Amherst.
