A capacity crowd of more than 150 people attended the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Companions/Compañeros program at Canisius High School on Saturday, July 29, 2017. The event included representation from all ten years of the Companions program—from members of the first service immersion trip to Laredo, Texas to current students who just returned.
New Canisius Campus Minister Fr. Michael Corcoran, S.J. '76 offered a prayer before dinner. Following the keynote speech by Companions alum Sean O'Neill '10, program Co-Founders Paul Cumbo '97 and Adam Baber '01 offered remarks and reflected on the past ten years. The alumni in attendance were asked to inscribe their names and brief recollections of their immersion trips on wooden tiles; the tiles will be assembled as a mosaic to be presented to the campus ministry office.
The Companions program offers students opportunities to respond to the Ignatian call to service. Click here to learn more about Companions.
