Two standout members of the 2017 Monsignor Martin league champion Canisius High School football team signed National Letters of Intent on Wednesday, December 20, 2017. Kenyatta Huston '18 made his commitment to continue his academic and athletic career at Central Connecticut State, and Paul Woods '18 formalized his prior verbal commitment to Rutgers. The two student-athletes signed their letters in front of family and friends, and members of the news media, in the high school's Brady conference room.


Kenyatta Huston RB, career highlights:

  • 1,035 yards rushing, averaging more than 12 yards per carry
  • 4.3 40-time
  • First Team All-Catholic selection, senior year
    Injuries limited Kenyatta to four games his senior season.
    He becomes part of a long line of Crusaders running backs to earn D1 opportunities.
  • Paul Woods WR, career highlights:

  • First Team All-Catholic and All-Western New York selection, senior year
  • Helped Canisius earn the 2016 state championship, catching 9 passes for 179 yards and 3 touchdowns in the title game
  • Part of the Canisius teams that set back-to-back team total scoring records in 2016 and 2017
    Paul also played defensive back this season.

    Two other members of the Canisius class of 2018 signed NCAA Division 1 National Letters of Intent in November 2017. Jack Collins '18 committed to pitch for the Binghamton University baseball team, and Jake Ruffolo '18 signed his letter of intent to swim for St. Bonaventure.
