In between ski runs at the Greek Peak Ski Resort, five Canisius Crusader ski racers, and one future Crusader, took a picture of themselves to send a "thinking-of-you" message to fellow Crusader ski racer Andrew Mangan '18 who is out-of-state recovering from a serious accident.

The student-athletes from left to right are: Sam Balanevsky '21 Dan Edick '20, Christian Meyer '20, Bryce Shively '18, Carlo Muscarella '20 and Liam Fischer '19.

Greek Peak was one of a dozen ski resorts that hosted racers during the 2016-2017 alpine ski racing season sponsored by the New York State Ski Racing Association (NYSSRA). The Crusaders competed against hundreds of student-athletes from across NYS in three alpine ski racing events: the slalom, the giant slalom and super giant slalom.

The Crusaders finished the U16 and U19 NYS championships at Whiteface Mt. (U16) and Gore Mt. (U19) during the weekend of February 24 - 26, 2017. Four of the Crusaders did well enough at the championships to earn spots representing New York State at the Eastern Championships & Finals later this month. The racers who are moving on will race against other athletes from states across the northeastern United States.

At the U16 level, Carlo Muscarella '20 and Dan Edick '20 will travel to Okemo, VT to compete in the Eastern Championships and Christian Meyer '20 will race at Stowe, VT in the Eastern Finals. At the U19 level, Bryce Shively '18 will travel back to Gore Mt. and race in the Eastern Finals.
