Dear Companions/Compañeros Alumni:
What is your most vivid memory of your immersion trip? Do you think of the experience often? Did it influence who you are, and the type of person you hope to be?
Companions has had such an impact upon so many of us...and 2017 marks the tenth anniversary of its founding at CHS. That’s right…the first immersion group headed to Laredo, Texas in 2007. We are proud of all that the program has become since. Please join us on Saturday, July 29 from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. on the Montante cafeteria patio for a casual Italian-style dinner catered by Carte Blanche restaurant to celebrate this milestone. Feel free to bring your family!
With more than 600 alumni and approaching 75 immersion trips, Companions has become a central aspect of student life. Year after year, we hear about its impact during Grad at Grad presentations, retreat talks, and Commencement speeches. We hear about changed outlooks, reflective habits, and informed perspectives.
We are very fortunate: through the generosity of many and good stewardship by CHS, our combined endowments have reached nearly a quarter of a million dollars. We continue building these funds to ensure a strong future for the program. Will you support us? This is the single best way to ensure these programs remain available to the students of today and tomorrow. We have two funds:
• The O’Brien Companions Service Endowment, established in memory of David O’Brien ’87, provides scholarship funds that keep Companions / Compañeros within reach of any willing & eligible student, regardless of his financial resources.
• The Neil R. Reilly ’80 Companions Mentorship Fund was established this year to support training and development of faculty leaders—a key to sustaining our immersion program.
Please take a moment to RSVP online below, even if you can’t make it. If you can’t join us, but would like to make a donation, you can likewise use the online option (click the blue button below) or mail your gift to the school. Your generosity would be most appreciated. Even a small, recurring gift of a few dollars per month will help us to build our endowments. There is strength in numbers!
Thank you for everything you do to support Canisius and the Companions / Compañeros programs. We hope to see you at 5:30 on Saturday, July 29!
